Margaret Ferrell, DVM Receives GBHS Award
Someone Who Cares a Whole Awful Lot…
On Friday, December 4, 2015, The Club on Red Mountain was buzzing with many of Birmingham’s most prestigious animal welfare advocates, and among these advocates was Margaret Ferrell, DVM. She had been cordially invited to join the Greater Birmingham Humane Society’s Annual Community Awards Luncheon, where she attended with her family members, staff and board members of Alabama Spay/Neuter. The Presentation of Awards called upon many volunteers and furry friends to receive various awards given for service to animals, kindness to creatures, outstanding service to the community, and for promoting and teaching compassion.
The last award was the Lucy Thompson Marsh Award. This notable honor is given in appreciation for advancing the spirit and the mission of the Greater Birmingham Humane Society throughout the state of Alabama. Lucy Marsh herself presented this award using a quote form the Lorax, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” This someone who cares is Dr. Margaret Ferrell. With much happiness and gratitude, Dr. Ferrell received the award and thanked her family, the staff and board members of Alabama Spay/Neuter, and her higher power.
Alabama Spay/Neuter and communities throughout Alabama are proud to have a veterinarian like Dr. Ferrell. She works diligently to decrease pet overpopulation, as she has fixed nearly 31,000 pets since 2009. Thank you Margaret Ferrell, DVM for your compassion towards the animals of Alabama, and congratulations on receiving the Lucy Thompson Marsh Award.
